Elegant, delicate, and full of life—that's Mulugeta Washed coffee from the Danish roaster Coffee Collective, a pioneer in ethical and transparent coffee sourcing. The cup reveals notes of mandarin, peach, citrus, and bergamot, which combine to create a relatively sweet, balanced, and very clean profile. The coffee has a light body, pleasant acidity and a long, floral citrus finish that is fresh and refined. The ideal choice for anyone who appreciates the delicacy and elegance of washed Ethiopian coffees.

The producer of this exceptional coffee is Mulugeta Muntasha, an experienced farmer from the Sidama region who runs his farms with admirable precision and respect for the soil. The coffee trees here grow at altitudes of 2,100–2,250 meters above sea level, where the cooler climate and rich volcanic soil provide ideal conditions for the slow ripening of the cherries. The 74-158 Kurume variety grown by Mulugeta is one of the local Ethiopian selections known for its delicate floral notes and distinctive citrus flavor. Thanks to a combination of traditional knowledge and careful manual labor, the result is a coffee that beautifully captures the terroir of Sidama: layered, delicate, and pure.

Processing is done using the classic washed method, which emphasizes the clarity and brilliance of the flavors. After harvesting, the ripe coffee cherries are sorted by hand, hulled, and fermented in water tanks for approximately 24 hours to remove the pulp and enhance the natural sweetness of the beans. The coffee is then washed and dried on raised African beds until it reaches the ideal moisture content. The result is a cup that combines purity of processing with depth of natural sweetness, offering exactly what we love about Sidama coffees.
