The Oh My Bean Roastery in Luhačovice presents the wonderful, slightly floral and sweet washed Ethiopian coffee Banko Gotiti. In the cup, it combines the beautiful aromas of fresh lemongrass, intoxicating jasmine tea, and breathtaking bergamot—all complemented by the delicate sweetness of honey, which makes this coffee an incredible experience. You’ll enjoy this coffee as an everyday pour-over or as a special treat. That’s because each cup reveals a different flavor profile depending on its temperature. When freshly brewed, the coffee is pleasantly sweet and complex, but as it gradually cools, floral notes and fresh bergamot come to the fore.
The Banko Gotiti processing station is located on the border between the Gedeb and Yirgacheffe districts and is one of the region’s long-standing producers. It was founded in 2011 by Mijane Woresa and has been dedicated to producing specialty coffee since 2017. It is currently run by his son , Daniel Mijane, who oversees the quality of processing and ensures fair conditions for the farmers. There are several hundred farmers around the station, many of whom farm less than one hectare of land. Daniel works to gradually educate them on harvesting techniques, because, in his view, quality is built on the farm itself, not just at the processing station.
The coffee beans underwent a washed processing method, which brought out their sweet and floral aroma. The coffee beans are hand-harvested and then transported to collection points. From there, they are taken to the processing station, where they are carefully sorted to remove unripe or damaged beans. The beans are hulled no later than 8 hours after harvest and then fermented in water for 36 to 48 hours. After fermentation, the beans are washed and then placed on raised beds, where they are dried until they reach optimal moisture content.
