If you are looking for an irresistibly sweet and complex cup of coffee, this excellent washed Kenya from the renowned Czech roaster The Naughty Dog will delight you. Notes of lemon candy harmoniously combine delicious sweetness with a distinctive, fresh acidity. Juicy forest fruits and a subtle black tea finish add depth and refined elegance to the coffee. The resulting cup is bright, fresh, and wonderfully sweet.
The coffee comes from the Kii station, which is run by the Rung'eto Farmers Cooperative Society. Founded in 1997, this cooperative has earned a reputation for its exceptionally high-quality production. At the Kii station, each batch is processed with the utmost care to bring out its full flavor and rich aroma, resulting in a cup of coffee that is truly unforgettable. The area at the foot of Mount Kenya is renowned for its ideal conditions for growing coffee – an altitude of around 1,800 meters above sea level, abundant rainfall, and fertile volcanic soil – which give the coffee beans their unique character.
Using the washed method, the cherries are first hand-picked, then hulled in hulling machines and undergo a strictly controlled fermentation process in closed tanks, which removes any remaining pulp from the beans. The coffee is transferred from the tanks to washing channels, where the beans are washed with clean water from a local river to remove the last traces of sugar. This is followed by slow drying on raised African beds, which helps to preserve the delicate and complex flavor of the coffee.
