Ethiopia Hambela from The Naughty Dog roastery is a sweet, juicy, and distinctly fruity coffee intended for drip brewing. The first flavor to emerge in the cup is that of Bon Pari currant candies, which lend the coffee a playful sweetness and a fresh, fruity character. This is followed by notes of Mon Chéri pralines, which bring a fuller sweetness and a subtle chocolatey impression. The profile is rounded out by an elegant note of red wine, which adds depth and a pleasant finish to the coffee. The acidity is higher but well-balanced by the pronounced sweetness, giving the coffee a lively, clean, and harmonious character. The result is a juicy pour-over with a candy-like character and an elegant fruity-wine profile.

The coffee comes from the Guji region of Ethiopia and was processed at the Hambela Buku Sayisa station. Coffee trees of the 74114 variety grow at an elevation of 2,000 to 2,300 meters above sea level, where conditions promote slower ripening of the coffee cherries and the development of pronounced sweetness and a fruity character. The harvest took place in January 2026, making this a fresh harvest with a clearly defined flavor profile.

Processing is carried out using the dry ( natural) method. After harvesting, the coffee cherries are dried whole, allowing the beans to remain in contact with the pulp for a longer period of time. This processing method promotes greater sweetness, a fuller body, and more intense fruity notes. It is precisely the natural method that gives this coffee its distinctive candy-like character, complemented by a subtle wine-like note in the finish. The result is a sweet, juicy, and well-defined filter coffee with a pronounced fruity profile.
