A juicy, fresh, and fruity coffee with a distinctive sparkle. CASSIS from DAK Coffee Roasters is a washed Kenyan filter coffee from the new harvest that offers notes of red currant, rhubarb, and pomegranate in the cup. The typical Kenyan fruitiness is combined here with an elegant acidity that beautifully ties the individual flavors together and gives the coffee its liveliness. Thanks to its full and juicy body, the cup feels clean, complex, and has a long finish. CASSIS will particularly delight lovers of fresh, fruity coffees with a more distinctive character.

CASSIS comes from the Kirinyaga region on the slopes of Mount Kenya. The coffee is processed by the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS), one of the highest-rated cooperatives in the region. It brings together hundreds of smallholder farmers who contribute their own coffee cherry harvests to the cooperative system. The cooperative handles not only post-harvest processing but also milling (removal of the parchment, sorting, etc.) and export, enabling the farmers to collectively achieve a higher quality in the final coffee. The coffee trees grow here at an elevation of around 1, 800 meters, where local conditions help develop a distinctive fruity character.

The Rungeto Cooperative processes the coffee using the washed method, in which the pulp is removed from the coffee cherries before drying. This processing method enhances the purity of the flavor and allows the fruity notes and characteristic acidity to shine through. The field blend used combines the Kenyan varieties SL-28, SL-34, Batian, and Ruiru 11, which are known for their distinctive aromas and complex flavor profiles.
