Kenya Kiamugumo AA from Industra Coffee is a filter coffee for those moments when you want a juicy, clean, and beautifully fruity cup. The flavor profile combines black currants, raspberries, and rhubarb, giving the coffee a fresh, lively, and pleasantly summery character. Black currant adds a more pronounced fruity note, raspberries bring a sweeter juiciness, and rhubarb brightens the entire profile with a gently tart tone. It’s exactly the type of Kenyan pour-over that works well served warm, but it’s also perfect for cold brew when you want something light, fruity, and still full of character.
The New Ngariama Farmers’ Cooperative operates the Kiamugumo factory, which was founded in the 1970s. The cooperative has approximately 1,500 contributing members who supply coffee cherries to the factory; each of them grows coffee alongside other crops on an average plot of about 1/8 hectare. Mt. Kenya is located in Kirinyaga County in central Kenya. The area is forested and home to a rich variety of exotic wildlife. Many rivers flow through the region, and the soil is fertile and of volcanic origin, providing smallholder farmers and cooperatives with the resources to grow and process some of Kenya’s most fruity coffees.
Processing is done using the washed method, which effectively enhances the clarity and distinct fruity profile characteristic of Kenyan coffees. After harvesting, the coffee is separated from the pulp, washed with water, and then dried in a way that preserves, above all, its origin, freshness, and precision in the cup. That is precisely why this Kiamugumo AA does not taste heavy or murky, but rather straightforward, juicy, and full of energy.
