Juicy, distinctly fruity, and pleasantly creamy—that’s exactly what the new 2026 harvest called Jazz Fruits from Ethiopia is like, brought to you by the popular Amsterdam roastery DAK Coffee Roasters. Its flavor profile blends notes of ripe stone fruit and wild berries with a subtle chocolate base and a sweetness reminiscent of white chocolate. The result is an exceptionally harmonious, full-bodied, and velvety cup that truly shines as a creamy espresso.
The coffee comes from the Bensa area in Ethiopia’s Sidama region and was developed in collaboration with Daye Bensa. It is a community lot known as Iron Lion, to which small-scale growers from the surrounding area contribute. The coffee trees grow at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters, and the lot consists of local Ethiopian varieties known as Local Landraces. The high genetic diversity of local coffee trees is characteristic of Ethiopia, and individual lots thus often include multiple native varieties growing together in a single area.
Jazz Fruits is processed using the natural method. After harvest, the whole ripe coffee cherries are first sorted and then dried on raised African drying beds. During drying, the bean remains enclosed inside the fruit, and the cherries must be turned regularly to ensure the process proceeds evenly. Once the desired moisture content is reached, the dried skin and pulp are mechanically removed, and the beans proceed to further sorting and preparation for export.
