Cloudburst by September Coffee is a single-origin coffee designed to offer a sweet, lively, and clean profile with a fuller body. In the cup , notes of molasses, caramel, and the deep sweetness of brown sugar emerge, creating a balanced and creamy profile when enjoyed black. With milk, its character shifts toward sweet milk chocolate and a long caramel finish. The coffee is roasted as part of the Storm Series with a slightly longer roast profile to work well as both an espresso and a pour-over, while also blending beautifully with milk.
The beans come from Colombia, specifically from the Huila region, from the El Nevado del Huila farm. This lot is produced by various small-scale farmers whose coffee grows at an altitude of 1,600–1,800 meters above sea level. In terms of varieties , it is a combination of Caturra, Colombia, and Castillo—a blend of Colombian varieties that together create a stable, sweet, and well-defined base. Caturra is a natural mutation of Bourbon and has long been one of the most important varieties in Colombia, while Castillo is genetically linked to Caturra and was widely adopted, among other reasons, due to its resistance to coffee rust.
Processing is done using the washed method, which helps keep the cup clean, sweet, and balanced. In washed processing, the coffee cherries are stripped of their skin and pulp after harvest; the beans are then washed with water and dried to a stable moisture content. As a result, the flavor lacks heavy fermentation notes, highlighting instead the coffee’s natural sweetness and structure. In Cloudburst, this process beautifully complements the caramel profile, creamy body, and long, sweet aftertaste, which shines through whether enjoyed black or with milk.
