Mango, strawberry candies, and a juicy mandarin orange. Mango Tango from the Dutch roastery DAK Coffee Roasters certainly lives up to its name. This Ethiopian filter coffee is distinctly fruity, sweet, and fresh, with tropical notes of ripe mango, the playful sweetness of strawberry candies, and a citrusy hint of mandarin. DAK roasts it very gently and lightly for filter brewing, so that in every cup, its clean, exceptionally lively, and flavor-rich character truly shines.
The coffee comes from the well-known Gedeb region in Ethiopia and is carefully processed at the Danche Washing Station. The coffee trees here grow at a high elevation of around 2, 200 meters, and this select lot consists of local traditional varieties (Local Landraces). It is therefore not a single specific variety, but a blend of native varieties typical of the local production. It is precisely the high altitude, volcanic soil, and unique character of the lot that come together in a harmonious flavor profile that captivates with its depth and subtle complexity.
Mango Tango is processed using the traditional natural method, in which the coffee beans are dried directly inside the whole coffee cherries. During this processing method, the beans remain in contact with the fruit’s pulp and skin for an extended period, which naturally enhances their pronounced sweetness, fuller body, and fruity character. This fits perfectly with the profile of this coffee, where sweet tropical notes stand out.
