Juicy like the tropics, sweet like honey, and gently fermented with real grace. No heaviness, just a clean and playful fruity ride. We're talking about this washed Rwanda from Kmen Coffee Roasters, which will win you over with its full sweet body, reflecting red orange, peaches, baked tea, and honey in the taste. A filter that will blow your taste buds away.

Muzo Washing Station is the smallest of the four stations operated by Baho Coffee in Rwanda. Thanks to its long tradition and cooperation with local farmers, the coffee offers rich flavors of blackcurrant, tropical fruit, and honey. In 2014, the station won the prestigious Cup of Excellence competition. Farmers grow coffee on small plots, often combined with food crops. Coffee is their main source of income, so the station supports quality through financial loans, training, and seedling distribution. Special programs help women, older farmers, and young farmers. Baho Coffee founder Rusatira Emmanuel focuses on supporting disadvantaged groups, especially women, who often lead families after the Rwandan genocide. Rwanda is now one of the most important countries on the specialty coffee map, where farmers lovingly grow mainly the Bourbon variety.

The processing begins with the careful selection of coffee cherries, which then undergo dry fermentation. This is followed by thorough washing of the beans with water to remove any remaining sugar. The coffee is then dried slowly, usually in the sun on concrete slabs or raised beds, where the entire process can take up to 93 days. In case of unsuitable weather conditions, mechanical dryers are also used. The resulting coffee from this process has a juicy flavor profile, higher acidity, and distinct fruity notes.
