Peru LA CONDESA from the British roaster Square Mile is a coffee characterized by sweetness, smoothness, and a perfectly clean profile. The first sip is reminiscent of a ripe pear drizzled with caramel —sweet, juicy, and softly rounded. Added to this is a delicate note of hazelnuts, which lends the cup a warmth and a slightly creamy character. The entire profile comes across as very harmonious, elegant, and calm, without any pronounced extremes. The acidity is gentle and well-integrated, the body smooth and sweet. It is exactly the type of filter coffee that doesn’t force you to search for individual flavors, but simply delights you with its balance and ease of drinking. A clean, sweet, and incredibly pleasant cup that you’ll want to return to.

The coffee comes from the Cajamarca region of Peru, specifically the Chirinos area , where it is produced by a group of 20 smallholder farmers in collaboration with the export and cooperative organization Colibrí Andino SAC. The farms are located at an altitude between 1,600 and 2,000 meters above sea level, which provides ideal conditions for the slow ripening of the cherries and the development of a sweet, complex profile. The project was also established through collaboration with Nordic Approach and primarily supports women from the Chirinos area. Colibrí Andino provides farmers with technical support in the areas of sustainable agriculture, quality control, and coffee traceability from farm to export. Part of their “Eleva tu Taza” program also involves supporting the planting of high-quality varieties such as Gesha, Pink Bourbon, and Sidra.

The coffee is processed using the washed method, which highlights its clarity, sweetness, and distinct flavor profile. After harvest, the cherries are hulled, fermented, and then thoroughly washed to bring out the natural elegance of the Bourbon, Caturra, Pache, Catuaí, and Marshell varieties. Thanks to the high altitude and careful processing, a very clean and sweet profile emerges, with a delicate texture and a long finish. Square Mile roasts this coffee lightly to preserve its lightness, sweetness, and delicate character.
