Fruit Punch by Square Mile Coffee Roasters is a summer blend designed for brewing filter coffee. As the name suggests, it’s a juicy and distinctly fruity cup that’s reminiscent of a refreshing fruit punch. The combination of Kenyan and Guatemalan coffees creates a profile full of freshness, sweetness, and lively acidity. The flavor profile features notes of fresh berries, orange, and other ripe fruits, complemented by a smooth, silky body. The Kenyan component brings intense fruitiness and juiciness, while the Guatemalan coffee adds greater balance, sweetness, and a clean finish. The result is a light, easy-to-drink filter coffee that shines whether served hot or as iced coffee.
The blend consists of two coffees in a 50% Kenya Nandi Hills to 50% Guatemala Flor del Café ratio. The Kenyan portion comes from Nandi County, known for producing high-quality coffees. It is sourced from Great Rift Coffee, one of the few independent producers in the region. The Batian and Ruiru 11 varieties contribute to the blend’s distinctive fruitiness and fresh character. The other half of the blend consists of coffee from Guatemala produced by Ramón Pablo Chalez, who farms in the Huehuetenango region at the Flor del Café farm. The Caturra and Pache varieties grown there provide sweetness, a delicate texture, and a balanced flavor profile.
Each component of the blend was processed using a method appropriate to its origin. The Kenyan coffee underwent anaerobic natural processing, in which whole cherries ferment in a sealed environment without access to oxygen. Fermentation lasted 96 hours, which helped bring out the sweetness, fruitiness, and juiciness. The Guatemalan component was processed using the washed method. After the pulp is removed, the beans ferment in water and are then slowly dried, resulting in a clean flavor, a smoother body, and clearly defined fruity notes.
