Juicy Kenya, just the way we like it! Kenya KII AB from Mia Coffee offers a perfectly balanced cup full of blackcurrant, lime, and honey notes that will delight lovers of bold filter coffees. This coffee will captivate you with its sparkling acidity and sweetness reminiscent of citrus syrup with a tea finish. Roasted for filter brewing, it excels in a V60 or as a batch brew – it's the ideal choice for those looking for a clean, complex yet accessible cup with a typical Kenyan character.
The beans come from the Kii Factory, one of three members of the Rungeto Farmers' Cooperative Society, operating in the Kirinyaga region at the foot of Mt. Kenya. The cooperative was founded in 1954 and, after restructuring, focused more strongly on the needs of smallholders – mostly women who grow coffee alongside avocados, bananas, and macadamia nuts on small plots of land. Kii is Fair Trade certified, invests in modernizing processing, and supports farmers through advice and training in sustainable agriculture. As a result, it is not only one of the best-paying cooperatives in Kenya, but also an example of how specialty coffee can bring about positive social change.
The coffee is processed using the washed method, which achieves exceptionally precise results in this region. After rapid delivery to the station, the cherries are de-pulped using a modern eco-pulper, fermented, washed and then dried on raised beds. After drying, the beans are left to mature for two months in ventilated containers, which allows the coffee to stabilize its flavor and achieve maximum balance. The result is a cup with a clear structure, a long finish, and the complexity we expect from top-quality Kenyan coffee.
