This limited-edition Christmas blend from Mia Coffee Roastery features a sweet and distinctly aromatic profile that combines fruit, flowers, and sweet notes. The flavor features ripe peach, complemented by red berries and honeyed sweetness. A delicate rose note adds a light floral touch, while hints of cocoa and a subtle wine-like undertone give the cup greater depth. The result is a juicy and pleasantly complex coffee with a fresh, fruity acidity that strikes a good balance with the sweeter notes.
The coffee comes from the Gedeb area in the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia and is processed at the Halo station. Approximately 700 smallholder farmers collaborate with the station; their farms are located at high altitudes of around 2,000 to 2,100 meters above sea level. The coffee trees grow here on fertile red soils in the shade of trees and dense vegetation, which also includes enset, or false banana. Thanks to the short distance between the farms and the station, the harvested cherries reach the processing facility quickly. The station’s partner is SNAP Coffee, a company founded in Addis Ababa in 2008, which, in addition to ensuring coffee quality, also supports the education of farmers and local communities.
The variety is Ethiopian Heirloom, and the coffee underwent natural processing. With this method, ripe cherries are dried whole—including the skin and pulp—after harvest. The bean thus remains in contact with the fruit for a longer period, which typically results in more pronounced sweetness, fuller fruitiness, and more complex aromas. During drying, the cherries must be turned regularly to ensure an even drying process, and once the desired moisture content is reached, the dried pulp is removed. It is precisely this natural processing that beautifully highlights notes of peach, red berries, honey, and a subtle wine-like character.
