This decaffeinated blend from Peru and El Salvador, from the Liberec-based roastery Mia Coffee Roastery, offers a sweet and harmonious flavor profile that combines notes of blueberries, black tea, and chocolate. Thanks to the gentle CO₂ decaffeination process, it retains its full flavor and pleasant aroma. It tastes great as both an espresso and a pour-over and will delight anyone who wants to enjoy a high-quality cup of decaf at any time of day.

This coffee comes primarily from the Moyobamba region in northern Peru, where it is grown by small-scale farmers. A smaller portion of the blend consists of coffee from growers in the Ahuachapán region of El Salvador. After harvesting and processing, the green beans are shipped to Germany, where the caffeine is removed using the CO₂ method. This process allows for the targeted removal of caffeine while minimizing the loss of other compounds naturally found in green coffee. Thanks to this, you can enjoy coffee even when you want to avoid caffeine.

At the beginning of the process, the green coffee is treated with water, steam, and heat. This causes the beans to swell, making the caffeine more accessible for the next step. The coffee is then placed in containers through which liquid carbon dioxide flows. The carbon dioxide binds to the caffeine and removes it from the beans. The carbon dioxide bound to the caffeine is then removed, the caffeine is separated from it, and the CO₂ is liquefied again for the next cycle. The entire process is repeated until the caffeine is almost completely removed from the coffee. Finally, the beans are gently dried at a low temperature to achieve the optimal moisture content for storage, transport, and roasting.
