A fruity and elegant flagship espresso. Era is Doubleshot's bestseller, which you know from their cafés. A modern espresso for top-of-the-line coffee machines. Washed coffee from Bolivia from the Palli family brings elegant acidity, delicate fruity notes of forest fruits and, above all, a dense, creamy body to the cup. The aftertaste has hints of milk chocolate.
This coffee comes from Mr. Julio Palli Mamani and his wife Lupe Medina, who live in Copacabana, a small and remote village located 180 kilometers from La Paz in the heart of the Caranavi province. This area is the center of specialty coffee production in Bolivia. Julio and Lupe have a 5-hectare farm called San Bartolomé, named after Julio's father. Julio has lived in the region since 1978, after moving there with his family from the town of Sorata (near Lake Titicaca) when he was ten years old. At that time, there was no electricity or running water in the region, and delivering coffee to the city was dangerous. For many years, Julio and Lupe farmed traditionally and sold their cherries at the local market in town. In 2016, they joined Agricafe's"Sol de la Mañana" program. The program focuses on improving the production model for small farmers with the goal of creating a more profitable and sustainable future for farming communities. The Rodriguez family employs a team of agronomists who regularly visit producers and assist with all aspects of coffee cultivation. It is a comprehensive educational program that aims to increase the quality and quantity of coffee grown while offering fair prices for coffee cherries.
The cherries are processed at the Bella Vista plant in Caranavi. The lot currently available in ERA espresso was processed using the washed method with anaerobic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The cherries are first washed, then hulled in mechanical hullers and transferred to stainless steel tanks, where the parchment ferments for 24 hours. The beans are then placed on African beds for 14-20 days of drying. In case of inclement weather, they are transferred to mechanical dryers (guardiolas or coco dryers).
