We’re pleased to present a coffee gem from the renowned Dutch roastery Manhattan Coffee Roasters, which will transport you to the mystical heights of the Ecuadorian Andes. In its flavor profile, this coffee exhibits an absolutely exceptional lightness, a delicate floral character, and notes of white grapes, with fresh acidity and the sweetness of a clementine as the dominant elements—which elegantly blend in the cup with subtle notes of rose. The overall experience is complemented by an intoxicating aroma and a violet aftertaste, which lend the coffee a noble, almost ethereal character. It is the ideal choice for lovers of clean, tea-like, and complex filter coffees that push the boundaries of modern Ecuadorian production. Behind this flavor experience is an experienced roasting team led by barista champions Ben Morrow and Esther Maasdam, who have drawn out the very best from this coffee and proudly classify it in their highest “World Class” category.

This lot comes from the hands of José Jijón, son of legendary producer Pepe Jijón, who is applying his experience from the renowned Finca Soledad farm to a new, ambitious project: Fincas Del Putushio. The farm is located in the Loja region, right in the shadow of the majestic Putushio Mountain, at an incredible elevation of 2,222 meters above sea level. At the heart of this lot is the Typica Mejorado variety, which in recent years has become a symbol of the quality of Ecuadorian specialty coffee. Despite its name, it is genetically a hybrid of Bourbon and Ethiopian heirloom (landrace) varieties, which gives it exceptional elegance and a lively acidity.

José Jijón opted for traditional washed processing to fully bring out the character of the terroir and the innate potential of this variety. After careful hand-picking at optimal ripeness, the cherries are pulped and fermented in pure spring water. The subsequent slow drying on shaded raised beds, lasting up to 30 days, ensures the stability of the flavor profile and underscores the precision with which the Jijón family approaches coffee cultivation.
