Castanhas do Brazil is good news for all lovers of the good old classics: espresso with a full body, thick crema, and a sweet flavor profile. These beans from the Czech coffee scene's celebrity roaster, The Naughty Dog, will put a smile on your face and fill your cup with espresso without any unpleasant acidity. Expect sweet nougat, hazelnuts, and the smoothness of dark chocolate in the flavor.

Brazil is not only a football and samba powerhouse, but also a long-standing undisputed leader in global coffee production. Castanhas do Brasil, which translates as "nuts of Brazil," is a blend of carefully selected traditional local varieties from the Carmo De Cachoeira region. Behind this delicate coffee is the renowned Brazilian cooperative Cocatrel, which has been operating in the city of Tres Pontas since 1961. It currently brings together over 6,000 farmers, half of whom grow beans on small, often family-run farms of less than 10 hectares. The ripe, hand-picked coffee cherries are dried using a special method in so-called static boxes, which gives them a distinctive fruity sweetness without any unwanted acidity.

Thenatural method, also known as dry, is one of the oldest ways of processing coffee after harvesting and is often used in areas with water shortages, particularly in Africa and the dry regions of Latin America. In this method, the coffee beans are dried directly in the fruit, which means that the berries are left in the sun, turned regularly, and covered in case of bad weather. When done right, this process gives the coffee unique sweet and complex flavors. And because there is no contact with water, this process significantly prevents the development of any fermented, distinctive tones.

It smells very pleasantly of cherries! Same for the taste, very delicately sour. I did not sense any chocolate or nut taste. I am not a specialist by any means but my day to day coffee from DM has an almonds note so at least I have that as comparison. I wonder if I got the wrong coffee? It's really good though.
