The washed Venezuela Lara from Jičín-based Pražírna Krok is a juicy filter coffee in which sweet fruit meets the depth of chocolate and a delicate floral note. In the cup, you’ll find wild berries, blood orange, and chocolate-covered cherries, giving the coffee a fresh yet pleasantly sweet character. The citrus notes add energy to the profile, the wild berries bring juiciness, and the chocolate tones beautifully round out the entire cup. This is a coffee for anyone who enjoys clean and fruity filter coffees but doesn’t want to miss out on a sweeter, fuller character. The delicate floral notes also keep the profile light and elegant right down to the last sip.

The coffee comes from Venezuela, specifically the Humocaro Alto region in the state of Lara. This lot was grown by the Rivero family, who farm approximately twenty hectares of land here and tend to more than 55,000 coffee trees. The hilly terrain does not allow for mechanized harvesting, so all the cherries are picked by hand. This allows the farmers to select primarily fully ripe cherries and then further ensure quality through manual sorting. After harvest, the cherries are placed in floating tanks, where water is used to separate the lighter, unripe, or damaged cherries, and any twigs or leaves are also removed.

The blend consists of a diverse mix of Catuai, Colombia 27, Monte Claro, and Castillo varieties. The coffee is processed using the washed method, which helps highlight the purity and clarity of its fruity character. After water sorting, the cherries are pulped, and the beans are transferred to fermentation tanks, where the remaining pulp layer is gradually removed. The coffee is then dried for approximately twenty days on raised beds. The result is a clean and balanced filter coffee, in which pronounced notes of wild berries and blood orange blend with the sweetness of chocolate-covered cherries and a delicate floral finish.
