This coffee takes you to the Sironko district of Uganda , where something exceptional is being created under the guidance of The Coffee Gardens. Behind its name lies the inspiring story of Jackie Nafuna, the processing manager, who began her journey as a laborer and worked her way up to become a respected expert. Today, during harvest, Jackie oversees the work of up to 60 people and ensures with incredible care that every bean of the SL14, SL28, and Nyasaland varieties meets the highest standards. Her dedication to coffee is further evidenced by the fact that she eventually acquired her own land, from which she supplies coffee directly for processing.
The uniqueness of this lot lies in its innovative approach to washed processing. At The Coffee Gardens, they experiment with washing the beans directly in the cherry pulp, which gives the coffee unprecedented clarity combined with a dense and complex body. The result is a cup that combines the hard work of 292 small-scale farmers (23% of whom are women) with modern precision, and will delight any lover of harmonious espresso who won’t settle for mediocrity.
