Wave Coffee Roasters presents Rwanda SIMBI, a coffee that offers the juicy fruitiness and pleasant sweetness typical of naturally processed African lots. In the cup, notes of raspberries and nectarines blend with a subtle hint of coconut and a fresh mandarin undertone, which lends the coffee lightness and vibrancy. Thanks to its espresso roast, it retains a full body, roundness, and a sweet, long finish that delights in both black espresso and milk-based drinks. It is a coffee that is playful, fruity, and yet beautifully balanced.
This lot comes from the Huye region in Rwanda, where coffee is grown at an altitude between 1,700 and 1,850 meters. The Bourbon variety finds ideal conditions here—volcanic soil, a stable climate, and the careful work of local farmers create the foundation for complex and sweet flavor profiles. The Simbi processing station collaborates with small-scale growers from the surrounding area, who hand-pick only perfectly ripe cherries. Thanks to this precise selection and the producers’ expertise, the result is a coffee that achieves high quality and a cupping score of 85.5 points.
The distinctive character in the cup is achieved through the natural processing method, in which whole coffee cherries are sun-dried. This process allows the sweet and fruity components from the pulp to transfer directly into the bean, giving the coffee its typical juiciness and body. During drying, the cherries are regularly turned to ensure even drying and preserve quality. The result is a coffee with pronounced fruitiness, a delicate exotic sweetness, and an elegant, clean profile that truly shines in espresso.
