The coffee comes from the Kasese region, which lies beneath the imposing Rwenzori Mountains. This part of Uganda has long been neglected due to poor infrastructure and isolation, but today it is transforming into one of the most dynamic coffee regions in the country. Thanks to projects such as the collaboration between The Coffee Quest and Great Lakes Coffee, there has been significant development in specialty coffee. In addition to improving processing capacities, investments are also being made in farmer education, organic farming practices, and certifications that ensure both coffee quality and decent working conditions. Farmers receive fair compensation for their work, which allows them to reinvest in their farms and thus improve the quality of each subsequent harvest. The result is not only great coffee, but also a functional and sustainable system that is worth supporting.

A unique feature of this coffee is the way it is processed – anaerobic natural. This is a modern fermentation method in which whole coffee cherries are sealed in special tanks without access to oxygen. A controlled fermentation process takes place over several dozen hours, which significantly influences the final flavor profile. Anaerobic fermentation helps to bring out the sweetness and adds complexity, depth, and often surprising notes of tropical fruit, flowers, or spices to the cup.
