The Brno-based roastery Poppy Beans has prepared a unique coffee from Peru just for you. In your cup, you’ll find an absolute citrus explosion softened by light, sweet notes of apricots. The fresh citrus acidity is complemented by a full-bodied, tea-like profile with a hint of flowers and an elegant chocolate aftertaste.

The coffee comes from Peru, specifically the renowned Cusco region. There, it is tended by Hugo Pareja and Flor López. In addition to being partners in their personal lives, they also collaborate in business and together carry on the coffee tradition started by Hugo’s mother. Coffee has become their primary source of income, and Hugo has been dedicated to it since he was 17. Today, he works on the farm alongside his wife and children, and their coffees have earned numerous awards and high cupping scores. The coffee trees here grow at an impressive altitude of 2,300 meters above sea level, which is ideal for their slow and gradual ripening. This lot features beans of the SL09 variety, also known as Inca Geisha, which is among the rarest coffee cultivars. This variety originates from Peru and is also more resistant to disease and adapts well to the demanding mountain climate.

This lot was processed using the washed method, in which the coffee cherries undergo a short fermentation and are then carefully dried on raised beds. It is precisely this careful monitoring of the entire process that helps preserve the purity and distinctiveness of the flavor, ensuring that nothing that doesn’t belong ends up in the cup.
