Delicate, floral, and pleasantly sweet—that’s Panama La Fortuna Lot 16 from OVNI Coffee. This elegant Geisha will captivate you with its clean and harmonious flavor profile, blending notes of juicy white peach, fragrant jasmine, and delicate chamomile. The entire combination is complemented by the delicate sweetness of acacia honey, which beautifully balances the fresh acidity. The result is a light yet complex cup that will delight lovers of floral and elegant coffees in particular.

The coffee comes from the Finca La Fortuna farm in Panama, located in the Boquete area of the Chiriquí region, at an elevation of 1, 550 to 1,600 meters. The farm is tended by the Fernández family, who have been growing coffee for four generations. It is part of the family-owned business Café Gran del Val, whose history dates back to 1914. The local conditions are ideal for growing specialty coffee. Fertile soil rich in volcanic minerals, a cooler mountain climate, and the characteristic year-round fog known as bajareque slow the ripening of the coffee cherries. Today, the family combines more than a century of experience with modern fermentation and drying techniques, allowing them to fully unlock the potential of the local coffee trees.

This lot consists of the renowned Geisha variety, which has undergone the Cold Washed method—a washed processing technique involving fermentation at a controlled low temperature. Carefully selected ripe cherries are first mechanically de-pulped, leaving a layer of pulp on the beans. This is followed by controlled fermentation at low temperatures, during which this layer gradually breaks down. After fermentation, the beans are thoroughly washed, sorted by density, and transferred to elevated African beds. Here, they are sun-dried for up to 15 days until they reach approximately 11% moisture content. They are then left to rest in bags stored on pallets for up to 90 days. The entire process is designed to enhance the purity and delicate character of this exceptional variety.
