Ethiopia Sidama Natural from the German roaster Ordinary Coffee Roasters is a coffee that feels juicy and playful, literally drawing you in with its fruitiness. The cup is dominated by sweet strawberry with a creamy undertone, almost like a strawberry milkshake. The fruitiness is layered and lively, reminiscent of a fruit cocktail rather than a single specific note—with every sip, you’ll discover something slightly different. The aroma features delicate white flowers, which lend the coffee lightness and elegance. The finish brings a hint of lemon zest, which brightens the entire profile and adds a fresh, sparkling touch. The coffee is light, clean, and full of life—exactly the kind of cup that will make you smile.

This coffee comes from the Sidama region of Ethiopia, specifically from the Adnan Washing Station, operated by the family-owned company Testi Coffee. The station is located at an altitude of around 2,200 meters above sea level and works with approximately 500 smallholder farmers from nearby villages. They grow coffee on small plots, often less than one hectare, under the natural shade of native trees. Thanks to the high altitude and cooler climate, the cherries ripen more slowly, resulting in greater sweetness and complexity in the cup. This specific lot was produced as part of the Premium Cherry Selection program, which promotes the harvesting of only perfectly ripe cherries and ensures fair purchase prices for farmers.

Processing is done using the natural method, with an emphasis on precise selection and slow drying. After harvest, the cherries are first sorted in water tanks, where poor-quality fruits are removed. They are then spread in a thin layer on African beds, where they dry in the sun for approximately 15 to 21 days. During drying, they are turned regularly to ensure even drying and preserve quality. This process allows the beans to develop a distinct fruitiness, sweetness, and a slightly creamy texture. The result is a clean, juicy, and complex cup with a typical Ethiopian character.
