Las Hermanas Red Catuaí from the Edinburgh-based roastery Cafēn Coffee Roasters is an elegant coffee from Costa Rica that delights with its full, rounded body and pronounced caramel sweetness. In the cup, notes of dark chocolate and ripe, slightly wine-like fruit gradually unfold, complemented by a fresh citrus note. The result is a deep, sweet, and delicately fruity cup with a clean and smooth finish typical of carefully processed natural coffees. The coffee is roasted to an omni roast to highlight its sweetness and structure, as well as its freshness and fruity character.

Las Hermanas comes from Navarro Ceciliano Farms in the Tarrazú region, one of Costa Rica’s most distinctive coffee-growing regions. Production is overseen by the Navarro Ceciliano family, which has over 100 years of experience in coffee cultivation. Processing is handled by the family-owned Coffee Nace S.A. Micromill, which works with coffee from farms located between 1,350 and 1,900 meters above sea level. The diverse microclimate and expertise passed down through generations help create distinctive and meticulously processed lots.

The coffee is processed using the natural (dry) method, in which the coffee beans are dried inside whole coffee cherries. After harvest, the ripe cherries are first carefully sorted and then dried whole, without removing the skin or pulp. For this coffee, the drying process takes an average of 15 days. During this process, water gradually evaporates from the cherries, and the beans remain in contact with the fruit pulp, which enhances their sweetness and fruity character.
