SPLASH JUICY filter blend from the Czech roastery Punkt is a playful and juicy filter coffee that combines the intensity of modern fruit-fermented beans from Colombia with the clarity of washed Rwandan beans. In the cup, red grapes and ripe raspberries emerge first, creating a distinctly fruity and sweet foundation. Added to this is a subtle note reminiscent of a light red wine, which gives the coffee an extra layer and a slightly more mature character. Thanks to the higher proportion of washed Rwandan coffee, the overall profile remains clean, balanced, and very drinkable. The result is a fruity coffee with pronounced juiciness, but without the feeling that the fermentation overpowers the bean’s inherent character.

The blend consists of 33% Colombia El Placer Purple Fruit and 67% Rwanda Shanga Washed. The Colombian component comes from the El Placer Farms project and producer Sebastián Ramírez, who is known for his experimental approach to coffee processing. This component primarily contributes intense fruitiness, sweetness, and fermented notes to the blend. Rwanda Shanga, on the other hand, comes from the Simbi washing station in the Huye region, founded by Abdul. It is this coffee that gives the blend its clarity, a more subtle sweetness, and a firmer structure. The two-to-one ratio thus acts as a natural counterbalance between the boldness of Colombia and the elegance of Rwanda.

The processing is a combination of methods, and each component contributes something different. Colombia El Placer Purple Fruit undergoes several fermentation stages, including anaerobic processing, carbonic maceration, and co-fermentation with dehydrated red grapes. This gives it intense fruitiness and pronounced notes of grapes and wild berries. Rwanda Shanga is processed using the washed method, in which the skin and most of the pulp are removed after harvest, followed by fermentation and thorough washing with water. This process helps preserve the purity and clarity of the flavors. Together, these two processing methods create a profile that is bold, sweet, and juicy, yet still well-balanced and distinct.
