Rwandafrom The Naughty Dog is an espresso that comes across as smooth, sweet, and very elegant. In the cup, it offers medium acidity that is pleasantly rounded and highlights a clean, distinct profile. The most prominent flavor is black tea with lemon, which gives the coffee a lightness and a fresh note, followed by the sweetness of cane sugar and a subtle hint of yellow flowers. The overall profile is harmonious, smooth, and perfectly balanced, with a finish that remains delicate, sweet, and slightly floral for a long time. The yellow label captures this coffee perfectly—it is vibrant, pleasant, and full of gentle energy.
The coffee comes from the Cyato region in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke district , where it is produced by women in the Women Abadatezuka cooperative. It is their meticulous work and emphasis on quality that define the character of this lot. Bourbon coffee trees are grown here at high altitudes of 1,850–2,200 meters above sea level, which, together with the local climate and terroir, promotes the slow ripening of the cherries and the development of a complex flavor profile. The altitude, fertile soil, and regular rainfall give rise to a coffee with a delicate sweetness, tea-like elegance, and floral notes. The harvest took place in the summer of 2025, and only carefully selected, ripe cherries that meet the quality standards for which Rwandan coffees are so highly valued made it into the lot.
Processing is done using the honey method , which falls somewhere between the washed and natural processes and brings sweetness and a smoother texture to the final cup. After the skin is removed, a portion of the pulp remains on the bean, with which the coffee is then dried, and this is precisely what gives it a smoother body and a more pronounced sugary character. In this coffee, the honey processing beautifully translates into notes of cane sugar, delicate floral tones, and a smooth citrus note reminiscent of black tea with lemon. The result is an espresso that is clean and elegant, yet sweet and interesting enough to delight you from the first sip through to the long, delicately floral aftertaste.
