This excellent filter coffee brings a smoothness and purity to the cup that you will appreciate with every sip. Its flavor profile is rich and balanced, with fresh notes of lime zest complemented by a hint of orange. This is complemented by the subtle yet complex nuances of roasted cocoa beans, which give the coffee depth and a slight bitterness. This profile creates a harmonious combination of freshness and sweetness that is pleasantly balanced and memorable in every sip. The coffee has a smooth texture that melts on the palate, and its pleasant acidity makes it a great choice for everyday drinking.

It comes from the Karongi region in western Rwanda, specifically from the Gitesi washing station, which is run by father and son Alexis and Aime Gahizi. This family-run station works closely with more than 1,800 small farmers located near the washing station. Each harvest is the result of the careful work of small farmers who hand-pick ripe cherries. This coffee, from an area located at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level, is known for its high quality and complex flavor profile, which is the result of the specific climatic conditions of this regional area. Gitesi prides itself not only on the exceptional quality of its coffee, but also on its commitment to the local community and sustainability.

This coffee is processed using the washed method, which ensures purity and intensity of flavor. After the cherries are hand-picked, the coffee is carefully sorted and processed using an eco-friendly Penagos pulper, which removes the skin, pulp, and most of the mucilage. The coffee is then fermented and washed in channels to remove any residues that could affect its flavor. This is followed by sorting according to density and soaking in clean water for 16 hours. Drying takes place on African beds for up to 15 days, during which time the coffee is protected from direct sunlight and rain to preserve its delicate flavor notes. This process guarantees coffee with a smooth, silky texture, harmoniously blending flavors of lime, fruit, flowers, and subtle cocoa notes. Gitesi also boasts Rainforest Alliance and CAFÉ Practices certifications and is committed to the environment and local farmers, offering them support, training, and bonuses for high-quality harvests.
