Kaganda AA – Kenya from Candycane Coffee is a filter coffee designed specifically for lovers of juicy and elegant Kenyan coffees. A gradually unfolding profile greets you in the cup. The flavor profile is built on notes ofcurrant jam, rhubarb, and cane sugar, creating a sweet, fresh, and beautifully layered start. Gradually, notes of dried mango, caramel, and black cherries emerge, complemented by a delicate floral note of rosehip and chamomile. The result is a lively, balanced coffee with bright acidity and a long, sweet finish, which perfectly showcases why Kenyan lots are so popular when brewed as a pour-over.
The beans come from the Kaganda Coffee Factory in Murang’a County, Kenya, where the coffee grows at an altitude of around 1,800 meters above sea level. This lot consists of the SL-28, SL-34, Ruiru 11, and Batian varieties—a combination of traditional Kenyan elegance and more modern varieties. The Kaganda Factory has been in operation since 1970 and brings together over 1,000 smallholder farmers who deliver their harvest to the station. It is precisely the combination of a stable infrastructure, high altitude, and the farmers’ meticulous work that gives this coffee the complexity, juiciness, and structure you expect from a top Kenyan lot.
Processing is done using the washed method, which helps highlight the purity of flavor and the precise structure of the resulting cup. With this method, the coffee cherries are stripped of their skin and pulp after harvest, then fermented in water, washed, and finally dried to the desired moisture content. Thanks to this processing, the fruitiness does not come across as heavy or overripe, but rather as bright, fresh, and very distinct. With a cupping score of 89 points, this is a coffee that beautifully combines classic Kenyan character with depth, elegance, and a clean, modern profile.
