Distinctive, juicy, and full of energy – that's Kenya RIAKIBERU from Danish roaster Clever Coffee. In the cup, it develops a typical Kenyan profile with notes of blackcurrant, raspberry, and cane sugar, which together create a harmonious contrast between fruity acidity and natural sweetness. Each sip is like a flash of summer fruit – fresh, lively and clean, with a long finish reminiscent of sweet berry syrup. This coffee is a great example of why Kenya remains one of the most iconic producers of specialty Arabica.
The coffee comes from Murang'a County, located in the central part of the country. This area is known for its fertile, volcanically rich soils and ideal climate for growing coffee trees. Producers from around the Riakiberu processing station share a long tradition of hand-picking and carefully sorting beans, resulting in an exceptionally clean flavor profile. Typical Kenyan varieties – SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian – create a complex combination of acidity, body, and subtle sweetness that gives the coffee its characteristic depth.
Processing is carried out using the washed method, which is standard in Kenya for achieving precise fruitiness and a clear, transparent flavor. After harvesting, the cherries are fermented, washed, and slowly dried on raised African beds, which perfectly cleans the beans and enhances their natural aromatic profile. The result is a coffee with a typically "Kenyan" elegance – layered, juicy, and incredibly clean.
