Mount Argopuro is an Indonesian coffee that has decided to break away from stereotypes, offering blueberry liqueur, mango, and a chocolate dessert instead of earthy notes. This coffee from Kmen Coffee Roasters is bold, sweet, and wonderfully juicy. In the cup, the intense flavor of blueberry liqueur meets the sweetness of mango sorbet and the velvety aftertaste of chocolate-covered bananas. Thanks to its full body and distinctive character, it reveals a completely different side of Indonesian coffees than what many people are used to.
The coffee comes from the Argopuro Walida farm in the Mount Argopuro region of East Java, where coffee trees grow at an elevation of around 1,800 meters above sea level. The farm is managed by agronomist Ahmad Muhlisin, who coordinates the work of more than 500 families and, in addition to coffee production, is also dedicated to restoring the local landscape, promoting biodiversity, and improving conditions for farmers. This lot consists of the Kartika and Lini S795 varieties, which develop a distinctive flavor profile on the volcanic soils at the foot of Mount Argopuro.
Mount Argopuro undergoes an experimental processing method using carbonic maceration. After hand-picking and carefully sorting the ripe cherries, the fruit is transferred to stainless steel tanks, where controlled fermentation takes place for 120 hours in an environment enriched with carbon dioxide. Once fermentation is complete, the cherries are washed and slowly sun-dried for approximately 25 days. It is precisely this process that gives the coffee its distinctive sweetness, full body, and intense fruity profile, which in the cup evokes blueberry liqueur, mango, and chocolate-covered bananas.
