Indonesia Mount Argopuro is a distinctive and juicy coffee from East Java from the Budějovice roaster Kmen Coffee Roasters, which will draw you into a world of sweet mango juice, strawberries in dark chocolate, and velvety amaretto cheesecake. This lot, with its light body and natural sweetness, is the ideal choice for filter brewing – whether in the morning or as an afternoon ritual. If you are looking for an unusual taste experience from a lesser-known coffee region, Mount Argopuro offers you something you won't find anywhere else.
The beans come from the Argopuro Walida farm, located at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level on the slopes of the volcano of the same name. Behind the farm is agronomist Ahmad Muhlisin, who coordinates the work of more than 500 families on a total area of 420 hectares. Together, they form a community that focuses not only on the production of specialty coffee, but also on the restoration of the local environment, especially after the devastating fires of 2018. Through landscape regeneration and a fair approach to cherry processing, they have succeeded in creating an environment that once again attracts wildlife – while providing local families with meaningful livelihoods and education for their children.
This lot was processed using the carbonic maceration method. After being hand-picked, ripe Kartika and Lini S795 cherries were sealed in stainless steel tanks without oxygen access for 120 hours, where fermentation took place in a controlled manner under the influence of CO₂. The result is an exceptionally complex and full flavor profile. After maceration, the cherries were washed and then dried in the sun for 25 days, turning them frequently to achieve an even result. The coffee thus excels with its sweet depth, juicy structure, and unmistakable tropical character.
