Guatemala La Colina, from the Prague roastery Candycane Coffee, brings a cup full of smoothness and balance, combining notes of plums, cocoa, and cane sugar. Each sip reveals the character of traditional Guatemalan coffee from the Antigua region, known for its unique terroir and favorable altitude. La Colina is a coffee that will delight lovers of more delicate and aromatic profiles when filtered, and with a cupping score of 86.5, it shows that even carefully processed everyday coffee can be a real treat for the taste buds.

The La Colina farm is located in the hilly landscape of Chimaltenango, and its story begins in 1991 when Tony Medina planted his first coffee tree. From a childhood desire to a passionate craft, a dream gradually developed that today represents a farm renowned for the quality and character of its production. Approximately 4,000 kilograms of coffee are harvested annually on 179 hectares, with Tony carefully monitoring every detail—from the shade of the Inga trees under which the bushes grow to the optimal ripening of the cherries, which determines the final aroma.

Lot La Colina has been processed using the traditional washed method, which emphasizes the purity and complexity of the flavor profile. The Caturra and Bourbon varieties, grown at an altitude of 1,700 meters, benefit from fertile clay soil and slow ripening, resulting in harmonious fruity notes, delicate sweetness, and subtle body in the cup. This process gives the coffee not only a distinctive character, but also the ability to be both delicate and accessible. La Colina is a cup that combines the story of the farmer, the tradition of the region, and the careful work that goes into each cherry.
