Guatemala Finca Pampojilá from Brno-based Industra Coffee is an espresso for anyone looking for something a little different from the classic chocolate-nut profile, yet still perfect for everyday enjoyment. Expect intense notes of red currant, the sweetness of molasses, and a long nougat finish. The result is an espresso that offers intensity, sweetness, and depth.
Finca Pampojilá is a historic farm in Guatemala, specifically in the San Lucas Tolimán region near Lake Atitlán. It was founded in the 1850s by Manuel and Monica Diaz and, over the years, has built a strong reputation thanks to numerous national awards. In 2010, the farm was damaged by Tropical Storm Agatha, and the Diaz family subsequently sold it to Agropecuaria Atitlán. However, this very event paved the way for a fresh start. The farm underwent a revitalization, new varieties were introduced, and infrastructure was established for more modern and innovative coffee processing. Today, Finca Pampojilá is a member of the Association of Private Nature Reserves of Guatemala and preserves half of its land as tropical forest.
The Ruiru 11 variety originally comes from Kenya and is known for its pronounced fruity character. In the Guatemalan terroir, it takes on a slightly different dimension: it still retains its juiciness and red fruit notes, but adds a sweeter, rounder profile. The coffee was processed using the natural method. In this method, the cherries are dried whole, including the pulp, which imparts more sweetness, a fuller body, and fruity intensity to the flavor. The espresso is thus bold, sweet, and long-lasting, yet still clean and pleasantly balanced.
