Ethiopia Bookkisa from British roaster The Square Mile is a coffee that will delight lovers of smooth espresso with a distinctive floral character and sweet finish. The cup combines notes of nectarine, citrus blossom, and caramel, creating a harmonious and clean profile with surprising depth. It is a prime example of why coffees from the Guji region have won the hearts of specialty coffee lovers – with their fresh fruitiness, floral notes, and natural sweetness. Espresso from this lot offers medium acidity, a velvety body, and a sophisticated taste experience that develops pleasantly and lingers long.

The coffee comes from the Guji region of Ethiopia, specifically from the village of Bookkisa, located at an altitude of around 2,000 meters. Ture Waji, a renowned producer and manager of Sookoo Coffee, is the driving force behind this coffee. He focuses on sustainable practices, transparency, and high-quality production. He works with local smallholders who farm small plots of land and deliver ripe cherries to the Dambi Uddo station. Ture provides farmers with processing, training, and infrastructure support, allowing them to focus on growing and harvesting the best beans. Thanks to this care, his coffee maintains its high quality and reputation as one of the jewels of the Ethiopian coffee world.

The coffee was processed using the traditional washed method, which perfectly highlights its flavor profile. Ripe cherries are carefully selected, hulled, and fermented in water to remove all pulp. Subsequent washing and drying on raised African beds ensures stability and purity of flavor. Thanks to this process, the juiciness of nectarines, delicate floral notes, and caramel sweetness stand out in the espresso. The result is a cup that combines classic elegance with a modern, fruity character—the ideal espresso for everyday enjoyment and special moments.
