The Costa Rica Alto El Vapor from Kmen Coffee Roasters is a pour-over coffee that is sure to win you over from the very first sip. It has a full, creamy body, a pleasant sweetness, and a fresh fruitiness. The flavor profile opens with sweet strawberry candies, complemented by a subtle acidity reminiscent of lemon sorbet. Aromatic notes of orange blossoms add an elegant, delicate touch. The overall impression is clean, playful, and beautifully balanced—no overly wild fruitiness, but rather an elegant cup with plenty of sweetness, juiciness, and smoothness.
Behind this coffee is the Alto del Vapor micro-roastery in Costa Rica’s Tarrazú region, run by siblings Delfina, Eduardo, and Dalila. In 2021, they decided not to sell the family legacy and instead began to fully develop the quality of their coffees. Today, they are among the producers who are not afraid of precise processing or innovation, yet at the same time do not forget to consider the landscape around them. They have designated a large part of the farm as a protected area, as it serves as an important source of drinking water for the local community.
The Typica coffee beans were processed here using the natural method. After harvesting, the ripe cherries were sorted and dried whole on African beds for 24 to 27 days. This gives the coffee a fuller body, a sweeter fruity character, and a beautifully rounded profile. The natural processing here doesn’t feel heavy or overdone. On the contrary, it helps bring out the strawberry sweetness, citrus freshness, and a delicate floral note. The result is a coffee you’ll enjoy every day.
