Summer Sorbet, a blend of beans from Colombia and Ethiopia by the Brno-based roastery Fiftybeans, is a summer filter coffee designed to shine especially in iced preparations. The coffee was created with cold brew in mind—one of the most popular ways to prepare coffee worldwide in the summer—but it also works very well as a classic filter coffee. The flavor profile features notes of citrus and cane sugar, with a refreshing aftertaste reminiscent of a caipirinha cocktail. The resulting profile is sweet, juicy, and very fresh, with a pleasant citrus note and a light body, making this coffee the ideal choice for hot summer days.
The blend consists of two very different components that, however, complement each other perfectly in the end. Half is washed coffee from Ethiopia’s Yirgacheffe region , which brings fresh fruitiness and aromatic lightness to the cup. The other half consists of the Caturra variety from Colombian producer Edinson Argote, known for his experimental approach to coffee processing. The combination of these two origins creates a profile that is simultaneously fresh, sweet, and very well-balanced.
The Colombian portion of the blend underwent a distinctly experimental processing method. The coffee cherries were fermented using enzymes mixed with an extract of lulo and kiwi fruit . This process promotes the development of more intense aromatics and a more pronounced fruity sweetness in the flavor. The result is a cup with a very juicy character, in which natural citrus freshness blends with exotic fruity notes and a sweet, summery finish.
