This Panama coffee from the Slovak roastery Kaffa in Považská Bystrica is exactly the kind of coffee you’d imagine when you hear the term “Geisha.” In the cup, it unfolds a rich and very elegant profile that blends notes of cantaloupe, mango, honey, passion fruit, orange blossom, and maple syrup. The resulting flavor profile is juicy, sweet, and at the same time very delicate, with a distinctive aroma and a long, clean finish. It is a coffee built on lightness, complexity, and a precisely constructed fruity-floral flavor, typical of top-tier Panamanian Geishas.

Behind this lot are Joseph Brodsky and the Ninety Plus farm in Panama’s Volcan Valley , specifically in the Silla del Pando region . The coffee grows at an altitude of 1,500–1,700 meters above sea level, which, combined with the exceptional terroir and attention to detail, results in an extraordinarily complex and elegant cup. Ninety Plus has long been among the most respected producers of experimental and competition-grade coffees, and their work with the Geisha variety is one of the reasons why these lots regularly rank among the most distinctive coffees on the market. In this case as well, it is a coffee that relies not only on the exclusivity of its origin but also on the producer’s highly distinctive style.

Processing is carried out using the anaerobic natural method , a dry process supported by fermentation in a closed environment. It is precisely this approach that helps highlight the sweetness, fuller fruity character, and layered aromatics, which are distinctly reflected in the final flavor of this Geisha. Here, natural processing does not come across as heavy or overripe, but rather as very refined and clean, allowing both tropical juiciness and honeyed smoothness and floral elegance to shine through. The result is a coffee with a distinctive yet precise profile, comparable to competition-level and exceptional lots.

Very unusual profile: heavy, notes of liquorice all around.
Drinking this coffee more than twice a week is exhausting to your senses. Also wasn't able to find the advertised sweety notes regardless of the recipe modifications. Nonetheless, good one-time experience, but won't buy this again :D

Very unusual taste profile, not your regular delicate and floral geisha. This punches you in the face with flavor
A complexity I haven't had in any other coffee before. Dark, developed flavors hand in hand with dominant fruitiness (purple and red fruits) as well as (molasses/raisin) sweetness.
A must try once. It is so characterful and strong, it might not be to your liking, but you have to try this to see how coffee can taste.
This is a strong one. I can imagine it can be tiring/overwhelming for some people, especially if you're not into big flavors. Luckily (or unluckily for me) it's only 150g.

absolutely fantastic
The price... but for a Gesha from Panama, this is probably a bargain
