Sparkling Dew is like morning dew in a cup of coffee, with a citrus kick and a splash of currant juice on top. This Kenyan coffee from the Brno-based roastery Fiftybeans is exactly the kind of coffee that stands out for its juiciness, clarity, and distinctive fruity acidity. The flavor profile blends currant, grapefruit, and kiwi, giving the cup a fresh, lively, and pleasantly sparkling character. Thanks to the combination of the SL28 and SL34 varieties, this coffee has the typical character that many people associate with classic Kenyan coffee, and when brewed with a filter, it offers a beautifully defined and energetic profile.

The coffee comes from the Kirinyaga region in Kenya and is grown at an elevation of around 1 ,900 meters above sea level. Approximately 500 farmers contribute to the local processing plant. Sparkling Dew is also interesting in that it consists exclusively of the SL28 and SL34 varieties. You won’t find Ruiru or Batian in it, which appear relatively often in Kenyan lots today. According to Fiftybeans, it is precisely this pure blend of these two varieties that helps maintain the distinctive juiciness and character that make traditional Kenyan coffees so easily recognizable.

After harvest, the coffee undergoes washed processing. The cherries are first soaked in water tanks, where underripe ones are separated, and then the pulp is removed. The beans are then transferred to fermentation tanks, where they ferment spontaneously for approximately 24 hours. Fermentation is halted by rinsing with clean water, and the coffee is then moved to elevated drying beds, where it rests for about 14 days until it reaches the desired moisture content. The result is a clean and juicy filter coffee in which fruity notes and fresh acidity have plenty of room to shine.
