The Hungarian roaster Hi New Beans! brings you a Kenyan lot that is distinctive, clean, and deliciously complex. The taste perfectly combines notes of jasmine and orange blossoms, followed by currants and a subtle hint of black tea. The entire cup is characterized by a fresh citrus clarity and, above all, a long, lively aftertaste that lingers on the palate long after you finish drinking. The body is round and pleasantly full, giving the coffee a perfectly smooth and fresh taste. The roast is lighter and the profile is designed to suit both filter and espresso.
The coffee comes from Kenya, specifically from Komothai in the Githunguri area (Kiambu County), and is produced by Daviwa Farm and producer David Waweru Kinyanjui. The farm is located at an altitude of approximately 1,805 to 1,890 meters above sea level andcovers 16 hectares. Around 8,000 trees grow here, benefiting from volcanic, well-drained soil, sufficient rainfall, and moderate temperature differences during the day. It is precisely these conditions that bring out the typical Kenyan character based on floral tones, fruit, and bright freshness.
The cherries are picked by hand and processed on the same day using the washed method. After fermentation, the coffee is washed several times and also soaked, then dried on raised African beds until it reaches the ideal moisture content. The SL 28 variety is significant in Kenya – it is prized for its floral and fruity aroma and complexity, but at the same time it is more sensitive to conditions and requires precise processing to bring out its full character.
