Kenya Kamagogofrom the Brno roastery Industra Coffee is a prime example of why Kenyan coffees are so popular among filter coffee lovers. In the cup, it is distinctive, juicy, and energetic, with a clearly discernible fruity acidity. The flavor profile is based on notes of red currant, rhubarb, and raspberry, which give the coffee liveliness, freshness, and a long, refreshing finish. This is a coffee that captivates from the first sip and will delight anyone who likes a fruitier and more distinctive character.
The coffee comes from the Murang'a region in central Kenya and is processed at the Kamagogo station, one of four factories belonging to the Kiru Farmers Cooperative Society. This cooperative brings together small farmers from the surrounding area and has long invested in improving the quality of processing. Modernization of sorting tables, better drying beds, and new pulping technologies help achieve consistent and clean results. The facility also includes a water soaking tank, which is used to filter water and protect local drinking water sources —an important step towards sustainable management.
The typical Kenyan washed processing plays a key role here. After being harvested by hand, the cherries are pulped on the same day and fermented in open concrete tanks for 24 to 48 hours. This is followed by thorough washing in channels and a characteristic step of soaking under water, which can take up to 72 hours. This process enhances the purity of the flavor and promotes bright acidity. Finally, the coffee is dried on raised African beds, where it acquires its typically fresh, fruity, and precise character.
