Guatemala Vandaluz has a delicate flavor profile that captivates from the very first sip. In the cup, it unfolds with juicy pear, the subtle sweetness of almond nougat, and an elegant hint of wild raspberries, which gives the coffee a playful freshness. The light roasting profile emphasizes the natural sweetness and purity of the flavor, making it an ideal companion for everyday filter coffee. This new product from the Square Mile roastery will surprise you with its balance, but at the same time, it does not deny its distinctive character—smooth, juicy, with a long, refined finish that keeps you coming back for more.
The Vandaluz farm is located on the slopes of the Volcán de Agua volcano in the Antigua region and is the first plot of land fully owned by the Los Volcanes team. It was originally managed by long-time collaborator Rafael Zamora, who introduced high standards of processing and soil care. After his retirement, the LVC team took over the farm and began a new phase based on an organic approach and thoughtful management. The first harvest immediately showed the first results – healthier soil, stronger trees, and a more pronounced flavor profile. The farm covers 8 hectares and, in addition to coffee, is also conducting initial tests of new varieties that should expand cultivation options in the future.
Cherries from Vandaluz undergo a traditional washing process that helps preserve the purity and precision of the flavor. After harvesting, the fruits are sorted, peeled, and fermented. This is followed by thorough washing and drying on raised beds. This approach emphasizes the delicate fruitiness and creamy texture of the resulting cup. The first harvest already showed that soil care and precise work on the farm are quickly reflected in the flavor—and we look forward to what the coming years will bring.
