Lalesa from Nowhere Future Coffee Roasters is an Ethiopian filter coffee designed specifically for those who love sweet, fruity, and slightly playful cups. The flavor profile combines raspberry jam, maraschino, and peach, giving the coffee a juicy, sweet, and beautifully distinct character. The raspberry note brings a richer fruitiness, the peach softens it, and the maraschino adds a slightly dessert-like, even cocktail-like touch to the entire profile. It’s a pour-over that isn’t afraid to be bold, yet still maintains its clarity and elegant fruity character.

The coffee comes from Ethiopia, specifically the Lalesa region in Gedeb. The coffee trees here grow at a very high altitude of 2,150 to 2,200 meters above sea level, which helps the cherries ripen more slowly and develop a more pronounced sweetness and complexity in the cup. In terms of variety, it is a heirloom—that is, a local Ethiopian variety known for its rich aromatics, floral notes, and vibrant fruity profile. It is precisely the combination of high altitude, Ethiopian origin, and varietal foundation that gives this coffee its lively and layered character.

The processing method is anaerobic natural. This means that the coffee cherries are first fermented in an oxygen-free environment and then dried whole, including the skin and pulp. As a result, the beans remain in contact with the fruit portion of the cherry for a longer period, which enhances sweetness, a fuller body, and more pronounced fruity notes. The anaerobic phase also helps develop more intense aromatics and complexity. The result is a filter coffee with rich fruitiness, a sweet finish, and a profile that beautifully blends raspberry jam, peach, and maraschino.
