Costa Rica HOUSE COFFEEfrom the Danish roaster April is a coffee designed as an everyday companion for anyone looking for a reliable yet flavorful cup. This blend of Caturra and Catuai varieties offers a pleasantly sweet and balanced profile that works great in both filter and espresso. The aroma and flavor are dominated by notes of milk chocolate, cane sugar, and red cherries. In the cup, you’ll find a full, smooth body, a creamy texture, and a subtle fruitiness that pleasantly enlivens the coffee.

Behind this coffee is the Volcan Azul farm in Costa Rica’s Alajuela region, led by Alejo Castro, a representative of the fifth generation of a farming family. The farm’s history dates back to the late 19th century, and today it ranks among Costa Rica’s most respected coffee producers. The farm is located at an elevation of 1,500 to 1,600 meters, where the cooler climate and volcanic soils create ideal conditions for the slow ripening of coffee cherries. Alejo is known for his constant drive to push the boundaries of quality and regularly experiments with new varieties. It is precisely this openness to innovation and deep understanding of the local environment that make Volcan Azul a farm that has long set the direction for the modern Costa Rican coffee sector.

House Coffee is part of the Sustainable Profile project, through which the April roastery supports long-term sustainable cooperation with farmers. Instead of focusing solely on small, exclusive lots, it also purchases larger volumes of coffee from its partner producers, thereby helping them generate more stable incomes and greater security for the future.

The coffee was processed using the washed method, in which, after the pulp is removed through fermentation, the remaining fruit layer is removed and the beans are then carefully washed and dried. This processing method highlights the clarity of flavors, sweetness, and balance of the cup. The result is a clear and consistent coffee that retains its character throughout the year and offers exactly what you expect from a great everyday coffee—sweetness, body, and joy with every sip.
