Uganda Normans Mukuru Peaberry from BirdSong Coffee will immediately captivate you with its enchanting flavor reminiscent of a luxurious dessert. The first sip will surprise you with the sweetness of chocolate cream, which smoothly transitions into slightly funky notes of baked apples, evoking a fresh, dry cider. The whole taste experience is beautifully underscored by a delicate sweet and sour note of wild strawberries, which will make you look forward to every cup. This coffee is perfect for waking up in the morning or as a refreshing treat in the form of a chilled filter coffee on hot summer days – simply irresistible.

This unique lot comes from The Coffee Yard processing center, which Norman Mukuru built at the foot of Uganda's Mt. Elgon. Freshly harvested cherries from 173 small farmers in the Sironko, Bulambuli, Kapchorwa and Mbale, located at altitudes of 1,800 to 2,200 meters above sea level. Thanks to Norman's relentless focus on precision and exclusively natural processing methods, the coffees produced here have a distinctive purity and rich flavor profiles. Norman works closely on this project with his long-standing Ugandan partner, The Coffee Gardens, and their joint efforts are helping local farmers to improve the quality and value of their products.

This coffee is made from peaberries, a unique mutation where only one spherical bean grows in the coffee cherry instead of two. After harvesting, the beans are carefully sorted and naturally processed, which gives them an intense, more concentrated flavor profile. The result is a clean, juicy cup full of chocolate sweetness, fruity tones, and a pleasant fresh acidity.

  • Altitude: 1800–2200 m above sea level.

We hit it off with this coffee right away. I tend to look for natural coffees and wanted to try a different brand.
The coffee is beautifully balanced and was a pleasant surprise.
You can really taste the apples, finely ground - strudel, one click coarser - fresh apples.
Nice packaging with a bird and a story.
