Tanzania BURKA ESTATE marks the successful return of a popular lot from the Brno-based roastery Poppy Beans, combining fresh fruitiness with a pleasantly sweet chocolate aftertaste. From the very first sip, it offers juicy notes of peach and orange, which are gradually complemented by a delicate floral aroma. As the coffee cools, a sweetness reminiscent of milk chocolate comes to the fore, and the cup takes on a fuller, velvety character. It is precisely this versatility that makes Burka Estate a coffee you’ll love to return to, from the first sip to the last.
The coffee comes from the Burka Estate in the Arusha region of northern Tanzania, where Bourbon, Arusha, and Kent coffee varieties are grown at an elevation of 1,200 to 1,400 meters. Thanks to the favorable climate and fertile soils, the coffee cherries ripen slowly and evenly here, which enhances their natural sweetness and complex flavor profile. Burka Estate operates its own processing facility, Coffee Mill, allowing it to maintain careful control over the entire process from harvest to final processing. The result is consistent quality, as evidenced by an excellent SCA score of 86 points.
This coffee was processed using the washed method, which allows the character of the variety and the terroir itself to shine through fully. After harvest, the coffee cherries are pulped, then fermented to remove any remaining fruit layer, after which they are thoroughly washed with clean water and dried to optimal moisture content. The washed processing contributes to a clean and distinct flavor profile, highlighting fresh, fruity acidity and floral notes while preserving a long, sweet aftertaste.
