Peru Cherry Barrel is a coffee that has a deep and warming effect from the very first sip. Its flavor develops dark fruits— cherries, blackberries, and plums —complemented by chocolate sweetness and a light, liqueur-like touch. The whiskey barrel is not dominant here, but rather gently underscores the natural character of the coffee and gives it an elegant depth. In some sips, it may remind you of Mon Chéri candiesor sweet grapes, while in others, the chocolate and plum sweetness are more pronounced. The body is round, syrupy, and beautifully smooth, with a long, clean, and pleasantly warming finish.
The basis of this limited edition is a proven lot from the El Eden region in northern Peru, which is produced under the supervision of Origin Coffee Lab. This coffee has long been popular for its dark fruity character, full body, and natural sweetness. Cherry Barrel directly follows this flavor profile—it is not an experiment at any cost, but a sensitive extension of what already works naturally in coffee. The coffee grows at an altitude of 1,620–1,920 m above sea level, where slower ripening promotes density, sweetness, and a more pronounced fruity expression.
The processing combines semi-anaerobic fermentation with subsequent aging in whiskey barrels. The original lot rests for several weeks in the barrel, where the wood and distillate residues gently influence the flavor—without overpowering it or adding sharp alcoholic tones. The barrel method acts as an enhancer here: it emphasizes the cherry notes, chocolate, and plum sweetness, but preserves the purity and balance. The result is a barrel coffee that is surprisingly smooth, clear, and very drinkable. Cherry Barrel is a limited edition for those who like darker fruit profiles and want to taste barrel coffee without excessive wildness.
