Friedhats presents an exceptional Panamanian Gesha lot that builds on one of the most respected family traditions in coffee. In the cup, a delicate combination of orange cake, milk chocolate, and floral notes unfolds, coming together to create an elegant, sweet, and harmonious profile. The coffee feels light and clean, yet offers enough depth and complexity to captivate even the most experienced specialty coffee lovers. It is exactly the type of cup that doesn’t make a grand entrance but gradually reveals layers of flavor, leaving a long, pleasantly sweet finish.
Behind this coffee stands the Franceschi family, whose name has been synonymous with quality in the coffee world since 1950. At that time, Carmen Franceschi and her husband Efrain founded the legendary Carmen Estate, which gradually became one of the pillars of the Panamanian coffee scene. Today, the family legacy continues in the hands of Carlos Franceschi, who, together with Jean Paul Langenstein, focuses his attention on smaller, meticulously processed lots in the Volcán area of the Chiriquí region. It is here, at altitudes between 1,600 and 1,800 meters, that coffees of exceptional elegance and terroir character bearing the Franceschi name are produced.
Processing is done using the washed method, which highlights the natural purity and delicacy of the Gesha variety. After being hand-harvested, the cherries are pulped and then fermented to remove residual mucilage and bring out their natural acidity and aromatics. The beans are then thoroughly washed and slowly dried, which helps preserve their floral and citrus notes. The result is a cup that is precise, bright, and elegant—a coffee that demonstrates why Panamanian Gesha is considered one of the most distinctive varieties in the world.
