Kenya Krush from American roaster Prodigal Coffee is a fresh explosion of flavours that will take you on a journey between the Kenyan peaks and the Colombian hills. This blend is built on a foundation of the best of Kenya - 80% washed Kenya AA, which delivers intense citrus notes, bright acidity and juiciness. Into this fruity palette comes 15% washed Perlitas coffee from Colombia, which adds a smoother, sweeter layer and balance to the blend. To make matters worse, 5% is naturally processed La Suma, which brings flashes of tropical fruit and unexpected depth to the cup. The result is a cup full of vibrant flavours where notes of grapefruit, sweet mango and juicy tropical fruits shine the brightest.
Behind this coffee is the work of farmers from ideal growing regions. The Kenyan beans come from small-scale growers in the Nyeri and Kirinyaga regions, where they rely on the SL-28 and SL-34 varieties, typical for their complexity and citrus character. The Colombian part of the blend comes from the Huila region - both Perlitas and La Suma grow at altitudes that give the coffee a sweet elegance, delicate body and delicate notes. The combination of these origins creates a blend that is not only lively, but also surprisingly balanced and layered.
The processing of the individual ingredients is the icing on the cake. Both Kenya AA and Perlitas have been washed through a process that renders clean fruit flavors, bright acidity and beautiful texture in the resulting cup. La Suma, on the other hand, is processed naturally - it is this detail that brings lightly fermented notes, juiciness and playful sweetness to the blend. This mix of methods gives the blend a dynamism that will keep you enjoying cup after cup.
